Thank you dear friends for the comforting words, for thinking of us.

I called her early this morning eastern U.S. time, (around 1 p.m. over there), and she was not at home, which makes me think that she had gone over there, where his new home was supposed to be, to look for him..
The thing is that if called, he would only come to her voice, and she was thinking yesterday of doing just that: going over there and trying to find him. Placing an ad is a great idea, maybe she will do that too today. The only problem is the horrible winter weather, much snow, so it is hard to drive . She is also very worried that he might freeze to death - but knowing cats, I doubt it. The area is also mostly small houses with gardens and yards, which is much easier for a kitty to hide and find some shelter, then those cold, unfriendly, gray eastern European skyscrapers and dehumanizing neighborhoods.

I will keep on calling her today, to see what is going on, and will keep you posted.

Thank you Dzeilana. I will keep praying and hoping there will be good news soon that Plavkan has been found safe. Many years ago when my husband and moved from California to Oregon, we left our only kitty with my parents (2 hours away from our new home while we waited for the moving van to deliver our furniture)and he got outside. My parents searched frantically for him and were afraid to tell us that he was missing. My mother finally broke down crying and told us by phone that he had gotten out and disappeared. We drove down the next day and searched for him. We found him the next night, he heard us whistling for him (we taught him to come to dinner when he heard a bosun's whistle)...hungry and scared. (He ran away when he saw us!) We did catch him and then carried him back to my parents' house only a few hundred feet away. (Tora did not know my parents' neighborhood.) We all cried with happiness and he ate a huge dish of catfood and purred all night long with joy! I will continue to hope for Plavkan's safe return.

Love,

Thanks for the update, Dzeilana. Please let us know what's going on as soon as you can. I'm so worried about him!

Thanks also to you, Midori, for sharing your encouraging story. This is exactly what I hope will happen with Plavkan.

Best wishes,

I hope all is turning for the better for Danica and the angel felines of Novi Sad.

My heart is still broken over the loss of my own little man Otis, way back in September 2008. I have been out-of-work since then, and even though I adopted a sweet little kitten, Alessandra, I am still in a bad way, emotionally and spiritually.

I tried to bring little 'Drita to the vet today to get her spayed, but she fought me like a little tiger and cut me to ribbons with her razor-sharp claws when I tried to put her into her travel case. Oh well, we'll try again next month.

Meanwhile, as soon as I am able, I will send $$$ to Danica. I know I have been saying that for months, but until I find a job, I just don't know what else I can do.

Wow, what a cold, hard world we live in... Where is the love?

Frank

I thought I would just check to see if there was any good news yet about little Plavkan. I will keep hope in my heart that he will be found safe.

Six years ago, I helped a little dog who had been lost for a week return to his home. A man had stopped me while I was out walking my dogs to ask if I had seen his dog who had jumped out of car window when he was at a stop light. The man lived 20 miles away in another town and the dog was on his way to the vet's office. I asked which vet office (there were 2 in town) and told him if I saw his little dog I would call the vet's office. I looked but did not see the dog until a week later. The dog was very frightened but I managed to lasso the dog with my dogs' leash and catch him! I had asked my own dear little dogs to sit and stay while I tried to catch the little lost dog. Oh, he was scared and barked and snarled at me. I made a small loop in the leash and caught his foot and once he was caught he became completely friendly!!! I think he was very relieved! I took him home with my dogs, gave him some dogfood and called the vet's office. They called the owner and the family (mother and 3 children) drove to my home to pick him up within an hour after I had found him. (The father was away on a business trip.) They told me that they had searched for several days and were starting to lose hope of ever finding their little dog. We were all teary eyed and the dog was so excited and happy to see his family again!

We must keep hope.

Love,
