New Shelter

Here are the pictures of the new shelter, where most of the outer work is done, but there is much left for inside, so that all the cats, together with Danica, can be safe and comfortable when they finally move in... Danica is a real hero, coping with it, and being persistent, and never giving up, although there is simply NO MONEY to just pay enough workers are get it done fast, and easy... Every little thing is painful, takes long, and there is one worker doing it all, and that is why so slow... but she does not give up, the same way she never gave up on all the poor, abused, abandoned, hungry strays. And I know that Danica's faithful friends and donors will keep helping.

You will notice a new fence being made around whole yard, and new roof, and many other things on the house itself...

On a different note, little beauty, called Utata, with huge , irresistible eyes, has had very bad respiratory infection, and is being treated with antibiotics . Remember, she was found as a kitten not that long ago (maybe close to a year, maybe even less, I can not remember).
Danica told me today that , since the weather was really bad to take Utata on the bike to the vet, and at the same time she did not want to spend money on gas, she asked the vet to drop by when going to the clinic, and he did, and gave little Utata an injection in his car! And then he said to Danica: with you and your cats I experience things that I have never experienced with any other people with animals. But I can not say No to you, he said, laughing.

Few kitties seriously ill

I have not much to report, except that out of six cats that had to visit the vet last week, two of them are critically ill: Icuka, and Sugi.

Icuka is a Siamese, and Danica has had her for many years, so it might be age, but Sugi, you will remember Danica found in the street several months ago, with some bad burns. Now, those were healed, but now his kidneys are failing. He is young, but with sick kidneys, we all know that with cats the future is not very bright.

The rest are some pictures of the new shelter being built (these are older photos, but Danica is going tomorrow there to give a portion of the payment to the worker, so I will post some fresh photos. And at the end, random Danica's kitties, just being so sweet and funny , as always. One of the Danica called Milka Penzionerka, which literally means Milka the Retiree. And in Serbian, it also rimes!

I am also posting a link for the new memorial page for little Milance on Face Book.

Thank you all so, so very much, for everything!

Many at the vet

Six kitties are sick, and on some kind of therapy. Six of them! Among those with more serious conditions is Sugi, recently rescued, who has kidney problems, and Tabadzija, old shelter's tenant, who all of a sudden could not move his back legs (Danica suspects that somebody hurt him recently, probably a human, hitting him on the back). All the photos are attached, and bad luck keeps on staying with the shelter for now, but Danica is taking it with hope and trying to stay positive.

As to the new shelter being constructed of that donated cottage - well, if there was enough money, it would be finished faster, but it goes very slow, and with many obstacles. No wonder, it is stressful to do any construction, especially if there are not enough funds. The little sweet note: Danica will name her shelter, once finished, Milance, in memory of the little legless kitty she loved so much.

The friends/donors were pretty generous , and she thanks you for that profusely! The most of the money will go to the vet now, with those six sick, but again Danica is staying positive, because what if there was no money for that!?

Thank you!

Photos to remind you of happier days

"Days are passing, one by one without his huge, cheerful eyes, and it is so hard for me to comprehend that I will never see him again".

That is what Danica told me on the telephone this weekend. She has all the cats to take care of (close to 60), but her heart is still so sad for the little one, and it will take her long time, I think, to stop mourning, but just keep him in her memory as a sweet kitty to whom people were so unbelievably cruel, and still he did not hate them.

Of course, in spite of heartache, Danica must take care of the cats, and that can not wait. Being so busy in a way heal the sadness, she says...

Again, she wants to thank all of you who offered your support, financial and other, in all these days.

R.I.P. little baby

Danica's heart is bleeding for the little one. She hopes that he is in kitty heaven now, purring, kneading, playing.

What Danica has been through that day at the vet's, nobody wants to know. Let's prey for her to find some comfort.

Dear friends and donors, Danica thanks you all from the bottom of her heart for all the warm words of love and comfort, and your financial and other support.

Milance got such infection that the vet said the only thing was to put him to sleep. Sepsis. It spread to his kidneys and his liver. Absolutely nothing could have been done to save him.

Danica is in shock because it was very hard to put him to sleep. I do not know whether it was a vet assistant who was not properly trained or experienced, but Milance kept on waking up. Unimaginable horror for Danica. She almost fainted holding him...

Danica said that all the kitties are extremely quiet, and just want to be next to her. She can not bury him yet, because the ground is frozen.
