A true survivor
To say that the first few months of Repic Lepic’s life were difficult is a vast understatement. He endured a horrific ordeal, was forced to live through a nightmare and survived to eventually find someone who cares. And he is finally happy and safe.
Repic is about four years old. While he was living on the street somebody tried to pull his eye out so he underwent eye surgery. His eye has been saved, but the vision in his right eye is gone forever. A few months later, some male cats raped him and he returned home all bruised and bitten. I took him to my apartment and he lived there until we all moved to the shelter.
Although cute and cuddly, Repic is distrustful of new people and I can’t blame him for being shy. He doesn’t like to be held or picked up, yet he approaches me and lets me pet him. He usually likes to sit right next to me.
Repic is blind in one eye, but his green gaze from the other is enthralling and his sweet face is enchanting. He is a beautiful and charming little guy, virtually adopted by Kim from Canada, who is already sponsoring Kmeca. I guess it proves he’s irresistible…

Always in my thoughts, forever in my heart
It seems as though a tragedy never comes alone…
It has been a very harsh and sad winter. When it started, I was aware that some of my oldest and most delicate cats would not make it till spring. Winter’s cold made all of them fragile, especially old and sick ones. I had to say goodbye for the last time to some of my dearly loved kitties. Gremlinac was amongst them.
He was brought to me at the age of 18 after surviving euthanasia attempt – his owner wanted to put him down because he was scratching the furniture. He was a tiny, skinny kitty, with cute face and big, round eyes, who has probably been neglected all those years. Charming and bright, he tugged at my heart and I wanted to give him the life he needed and deserved but has never had. He reminded me of a gremlin and that’s how he got his name.
Gremlinac had a year of nice life at my shelter. He was flea allergic and had a dense down hair but didn’t allow me to brush him so he usually winded up with matted fur. Extremely lovable, he cuddled with everyone. He enjoyed eating hot dogs and used to purr loudly like an engine. I loved him as if he were mine all his life.
When he turned 19, his strength started to fade. He was growing frailer and weaker day by day and passed away peacefully in his sleep. Loved beyond words, he will be missed beyond measure.
May he run free and happy until we meet again.
Rest in peace, sweetie.

Do you recognize this fellow?
Last autumn, when a friend of mine called me and told me a tragic story about a mother cat and her kittens that were living on the street struggling to survive, I didn’t think twice. By the time I arrived to pick them up, there were only two kittens left by their mother’s side. The rest of the litter had been killed by dogs before I had the chance to save them. Needless to say I took the surviving ones with me. I mean, there’s always room for another cat – or another three cats, especially if they’re in imminent danger.
And so that little family ended up in my shelter. Mother cat was trustful and cuddly from the beginning and her ginger son was as affectionate as she was. I was told that his sibling was a girl but that girl turned out to be a boy. Anyway, both of them were growing up rather quickly. Even as a skinny kitten, Jaki had those huge paws with long fingers and was apparently bound to turn out big. He has always loved people and was lovable and sweet. And he was getting bigger and bigger every day.
Jaki is about nine months old and still growing. He’ll surely be huge and magnificent as he’s already very big and strong for his age. Notwithstanding, he often acts like a little kitten. His cuteness has not been lost and his charm is increasing. All in all, there’s more of him to love.

Never was a quitter
Nobody knows what happened to Trcika before she was found with broken fingers. Although only three months old, she was decisive and fearless from the beginning.
The vet put a splint on her leg as soon as she arrived and she had to wear it for six weeks. Nonetheless, it didn’t affect her behaviour, she was strong willed and undaunted and showed no respect for anyone. She has always lived by her own standards. Whenever she had a tussle with another cat, she would use her splint as a pole.
Trcika is now fully recovered, stubborn and self reliant as usual. She’s definitely not impressed with older cats, yet gets along well with everyone. She is always up to something and has a sparkling, mischievous look in her eyes. Lively, inquisitive and charming, she is simply irresistible.

Farewell, my little one
It’s with deep sorrow and profound grief that I sadly announce the passing of my dear Apra. She has been struggling with her health issues for almost two years until she simply couldn’t fight anymore. She died quietly, peacefully and apparently without pain. I held her and she purred till her last breath. I guess she knew her time had come.
Apra was a tiny cat with the big heart. She was one of the most courageous and persistent kitties I’ve ever seen, with a strong desire to live. She fought valiantly for such a long time, to no avail. Her exhausted little body just couldn’t take it anymore. She didn’t want to fight anymore.
Her age doesn’t matter now. Her problems don’t matter. All that matters is that she is gone. Her death has left a huge hole in my heart and I don’t think I’ll ever stop grieving. After all, grief is the final expression of love, the last gift I have to offer.
She was one in a million.
May she rest in peace.
